When Kunark came out and the elusive "pot room" was discovered and everyone and their mom found out about it and verant was all over it like flies on shit trying to "fix" it? Which eventually resulted in the nerfing of being able to bind there?

Now obviously, Planes of Power, is the exact same thing except infinitely more convenient because even melee classes can bind there.

Which of the following would you warrant this to?

I would go with number 3.. but I think it had to do with who was the lead game designer at the time...

When rich waters joined, everything changed.

I had trouble deciding, it's more a mix of all 3. I chose 2 because, while not overpowering in a make a ton of plat/get quick AA's way, I feel it did cheapen the game.

also look at the large number of gate items that are not spells. Gave melees a huge boost, something they had been denied for 3 years straight

I think SoE realizes players could be better spending thier time elsewhere instead of walking aroiund trying to get to the next spot, when you have to choose between Fun and realism...fun should win, and the PoK ports made the game fun not tedious

Easy and Fun are two different things though. It's not like we ever walked anyway, we had druids/wizards teleport us. Also the Nexus Spires. I mean look at alot of the new games, they make things so easy that in the end there is no accomplishment. There is something to be said for making it from Freeport to Qeynos.

Nah is right, when Brad McQuaid left, he took "the visionTM" with him. His theory was if we make the game too easy everybody will get bored and leave, so it's a good thing that it takes your whole night to get to cobalt scar from Timorous Deep. New developers along with a ton of new content to keep people busy even if they don't have 7 hours a week of running from zone to zone to do has changed that theory(of course some of that "content" is just more boring timesinks". Nowadays the theory seems to be if everybody hates it, they try to take it out or at least make it less painful.

before kunark and sov and sol there were now nexus spires. most druids and wizards ignored you unless you were offering alot of plat. my druid wouldn't answer shouts or tells for ports because i was getting them constantly.

i didnt ever get to do the whole Pot room thing. other than my druid at the time i was playing a paladin and a warrior. by the time i started my necro they nerfed it so you couldn't bind in there.

1, 3, then 2

their decision to open up lower tier planes to people without flags is a good example of reason #1

Actually spires came out with SoL, so they didn't exist in Kunark/SoV.

I dunno what you were doing wrong there. I could shout looking for a port and normally get one within 5 to 10 minutes (not offering cash) in areas that were populated, and it was the same for most of my friends.

EC always had people doing ports for donations, and any druid/wizard ring had people normally willing to port as well.

The fact is, there was always a Druid or Wizard who was broke and was hoping for a 100pp donation or two.

I think the main reason they shut pots down was the complaints they were getting abou death loops w/ faydedar after morons bound in the pots.

I think he meant "no" (as in "before Kunark and SoV and SoL there were NO Nexus spires) but his spelling blows.

Techincally there were the Combine portals, but they were only wizard ports back then. They were not connected to Luclin or to each other yet.
