Centrino is a type of processor that uses less power and saves battery life.
You will need a wireless card and a service provider for wireless internet.
It's like 50$ a month for 56k speeds or some shit.
i have an inspirion 8200 that i bought last year, it plays everquest, wc3, and any other game i've installed on it just fine. it actually ran EQ just as smoothly (or better) as my desktop that i had at the time, which had a brand new radeon 9700 in it.
i dunno if they've upgraded the cards from mobile radeon 9000's yet, but the CPU speed should more than make up for it unless you're trying to play some brand new graphically intense FPS with all options turned on or something.

Is that 8200 better than the inspiron 5100?

janoth,
centrino does not mean wireless internet. centrino is basically a mobile processor with an integrated 802.11b wireless etherenet adapter. because it's integrated, and using a mobile processor, you can get extended battery life over normal P4M configs.
basically, the 802.11b will give you access to a wireless network. if that netowrk is connected to the internet, you can get net access. if you want internet access anywhere you go, you'll need ot look into a cellular modem (verizon has the best atm)
i'd really go with an HP. they have an f*****g kick a*s 17" widescreen model right now with a radeon 9600 (i think) for less than 2000. they also make a smaller version which goes for under 1500 i believe.
if you have a costco nearby your home, i'd buy from there. costco has a 6 month, full-refund warranty on laptops. if you get hte system and decide you don't like it, return it for a full return =)
i really don't like Dell Laptops anymore. they feel liek they're being made cheaply and have incrasing amounts of problems.
just my thoughts. of course, if you have money to blow *advertisement inc* buy alienware. our laptops really kick a*s but you're looking at ~3k. the plus is, we're the only company who is offering upgradeable graphics cards, so you'lll be able to upgrade your video card for at least 2 more generations of mobile graphics.

If you want a "desktop replacment" Id recomend a Sager 5680.
Pros: 3 ghz+, up to 2 gig ram, 128 meg ati 9600 radeon mobile
cons: 2 hours of battery life, with dual batterys, expensive
I own one and love it, it does everything I need, runs every game with top settings. Has built in wireless card, and when you get the wireless built in with it, there is a built in anttena that is wired behind the screen so you get nice quality connection. My roomate Bought a dell laptop early fall, and i would say its a piece of shit, he paid $2500 it has 2 ghz(i think) centrino but it cant play anygames well and hes had more problems than ive ever seen on a computer.
