I am using Azureus; in order to dl torrents from a particular private tracker, I need port 50000 open. SO...I opened not only 6881-6999 on the router, but I also opened 50000-52000 as well. I also do not have my WinXP firewall up, just the firewall that is inherent in the router.

After downloading for like an hour, I am getting a NAT error on the 50000...as well as anything between it and the 52000. The 6999 is working fine--now. Earlier today, I was getting a NAT error on it, as well. That's one of the reasons I called DLink. But I can't access the torrent from the private tracker site with that port.

Soo...where else shall I check to see about the port issues?

Thanks!

Read the part about NAT. Does your connection always have the yellow face?

Right now, I have just a red smilie for the torrent from the private tracker..the port, 50000, is failing the NAT test. It was working earlier today, though. Tracker is fine though...

I read thru the FAQ, etc...I just don't know why the ports are "closing" like they are...any of them. 6881 or 6999 or 50000 or any other number in the ranges that I have specified are intermittently working.

It might be, i dont know how they have port forwarding set up but my new router dosent like it a bit, Azureus worked fine with my old micosoft router and I do like alot of the features it has.

Does the site of the tracker have a FAQ about it?
Can you forward 50000 coming in to 6999 to your computer?
Have you tried turning off the router's firewall?

Callaren,

I have ports opened for both ranges on the router. I spoke with DLink yesterday and they told me that even tho I do not have the firewall enabled on the router (which I don't, right now), that there is an inherent firewall that I can't turn off. I don't know enough about the subject to doubt him since he does work for the company LOL

The FAQ from Azureus was amazingly good...I am not port forwarding atm..I am port triggering which, from what I read, would be the best thing to do.

However, since I last posted, my connection is still up and running YAY...I downloaded BTornado on the laptop...will ck that out later in the week as I don't think it would be wise to run both programs at the same time on two different machines.

Thank you, Obmar..I will go back and reread that part. When I read it yesterday, it appeared that port triggering was the best route to go over port forwarding.
